Soufriere Hills Volcano is back on track, doing what it knows best. Eruptions started back in last October with several explosions some of them visible from the neighbour island of Guadeloupe where i stay at now.

The video link post here is a short video over a period of 2hours with pictures taken every 30s.

Back on di Blog

It has been a while since my last post... BUT I was quiet busy and i did missed the best action from SHV lately. Mainly dealing with my PhD research or the Deformation monitoring at MVO.
All the late activity can be checked on the MVO website; www.mvo.ms. On the website one can click on the flickers link to have a look a the pictures of the last 6 months activity.
Ive been in Montserrat for 6 days now, starting my third duty rotation at MVO. THings are quiete more or less these days. I witnessed a small Pyroclastic Flow (PF) on last thursday that didnt reach far on the north easter part of the volcano (Tyre's Gaut) but nothing impressive. The seismometers recorded some tremors signals on the week end that would let us believe that probably something may happen in the next (we dont know now) couple of days or weeks or may be months. We'll see!
We are still waiting for an helicopter to go back on track in the network maintenance.

some new pictures will be posted very soon, so stay tuned
